MASK Piston Head

ARS (Airsoft Research Syndicate) has released the MASK pistonhead, otherwise known as the Mechbox Anti-Shock Kit. It is made of Polyoxymethylene (POM), in the USA also commonly known under DuPont's brand name Delrin. Its an engineering plastic often marketed and used as a metal substitute. Delrin is a lightweight, low-friction, and wear-resistant thermoplastic with good physical and processing properties and capable of operating at high temperatures (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delrin).

The MASK piston head's design was derived from LAYLAX's MP7 pistonhead. It is devised to work with the ARS sorbo pads to maximize shock absorption and achieve the ultimate in gearbox protection. A Sorbothane is embedded onto a 2.95mm deep crater and rises only at 0.5mm, enough to act as the first surface to impact the cylinder head sorbothane damper. In theory, the surface would work as a "sponge" that will absorb the shock and distribute the impact into its core without compromising the angle of engagement between the sector gear and the piston body.

The MASK also uses a white Silicone O-ring as a standard and will come in two different sets - 1. Piston head replacement, 2. Piston head with bearing and lock. The MASK is compatible with versions 2, 3, 6, and 7 mechbox.

マスクピストンヘッドのデザインはLAYLAX's MP7のピストンヘッドから得ています。最大限の衝撃を吸収し、メカボックス保護において究極のものになしおえたARSのソルボパッドと作用するために考案されました。ソルボセインは2.95mm深くへこんでいて、0.5mmだけ出っ張っており、ソルボセインに衝撃を与える最初の表面として働きかけるのに十分です。理論的には、表面は衝撃を吸収し、セクタギアやピストン本体間のかみ合いの角度を危うくすることなく中心に散布するスポンジのように働きかけます。
マスク(MASK)も標準としてホワイトシリコンｵｰリングを使用し、異なる二つのセットになります。1つ目がピストンヘッドの替え。　2つ目がベアリングとロックです。マスクはバージョン2,3,6,7共用できます。

Prevent your AEG Gearboxes from Breaking

Airsoft Research Syndicate is proud to announce the new breakthrough in Airsoft Technology. Stiffer springs mostly ms150 and up ( PDI, Systema , Prometheus, Angel ,Angs, Guarder etc.) can do damage your AEG gearboxes because stiffer springs produce a strong vibration and hard impact between the piston head and the cylinder head when they collide.

ARS has developed a material to attach in the cylinder head that acts as a cushion or shock absorber to minimize the stress/impact cause by the stiffer/stronger spring installed in the AEG gearbox. The material is called a SORBOTHANE.

"SORBOTHANE, a proprietary visco-elastic polymer material that exhibits properties of both liquids (viscous solutions) and solids (elastic materials). It is polyether-based, polyurethane material or a combination of the properties of rubber, silicone, and polymers. It can absorb shock, and isolate vibration from an unusual high amount of energy from a spring. While many materials exhibit one of these characteristics, Sorbothane combines all of them in a stable material with a long fatigue life.

Base on the test result using a Systema ms170 sp in high custom m4A1 ver.2 gearbox ,Sorbothane significantly absorbed 94.7% of the impact. After 2000 rounds of full auto hard test fire it found out that the gearbox was in still in good condition and there were no any signs of damage or any hair cracks in the tip of the gearbox.

ARS engineers designed the SORBO pads that were used specifically for Airsoft, and wasn't really known until a few airsoft enthusiasts tried to test and proved the benefits of the "small wonder".. the result was exceptional. The SORBO pad has proven its worth. Its damping characteristics and cheap price can be a substitute for the silent piston heads (for the "silent operators"), and it eliminates the need for reinforced gearboxes when using High rated springs.

"To measure performance I used the Audacity audio recording program and a boom microphone. To compare the performance difference I recorded the sound of my AEG before installation. Being careful not to confound the results, I left the microphone in the same place from the initial recording and placed the AEG where I could easily replace once the installation was complete. Now since I do not have a video camera, I could not leave a microphone out in the yard to record the noise coming from the front of the AEG. This would simulate the noise heard by a target player. My recordings are from the left side of my AEG and are taken from within 24” of the gearbox. The performance of the sorbo pad was effective. I noticed a deeper tone in the piston head on cylinder head impact."

“ソルボセイン“　液体（粘性溶液と固体(弾力のある材料)の特性を示す専売粘弾性ポリマー材料です。ポリエーテル、ポリウレタン材やゴムの特性、シリコンやポリマーを基礎としています。
衝撃を吸収し、バネからの異常な高いエネルギー量から振動を分離します。
多くの材料はそれらの特性の一つのみに対して、ソルボセインは全てを兼ね備え長い耐用年数と結合し安定した材料となります。

high custom m4A1 ver.2gearboxシステマms170 spテスト結果に基づいて,ソルボセインは衝撃の94.7%を著しく吸収します。2000発の自動テストの後 、ギアボックス（gearbox）は依然として良い状態であり、損傷やギアボックスのひびはありませんでした。

ARSのエンジニアたちはソルボパッドをデザインし、ソルボパッドはエアソフトに用いりられ、エアソフトファンがテストしましたが“small wonder（小さいの物でも素晴らしい）
”の利益を証明するまで知られていませんでした。そしてその結果は非常に優れたものであり、　ソルボパッドはその価値を証明しました。
その鈍い特性や安価は静かなピストンヘッドの代用ができ高く評価されたスプリングを使用する場合に強化されたギアボックスの必要性をなくします。

マットローソンはソルボの作用中の特性を示しました。（テストは米国、アラバマで行なわれました）

成果を評価するためにオウダシティーオーディオレコーディングプログラムとブームを使用しました。成果の違いを比較するためにインストールする前にAEGの音を録音しました。
結果を混同しないよう気を付け、最初の録音から同じ場所にマイクを置きインストールが完了したら容易に取り替えられる所にAEG　を置きました。現在ビデオカメラを持っていないのでAEGの左側から来る音を録音するためにマイクを地面に置きっ放しにする事ができませんでした。標的のプレイヤーによって聞かれる音をシュミレーションします。
AEGの左側から録音し、ギアボックスのソルボパッドの性能は効果的です。　シリンダーヘッドの衝撃　ピストンヘッドの低音に気づきました。
